ELBA ISLAND
|
02. The Climate
The Elba climate is the marine classical one,
with very mild temperatures also during the winter period. The rainy
days on average are almost short, particularly during the summer
months.
The prevalent wind is Sirocco (South-East), that unlikely blows
with power, during the summer period it alternates in the afternoon
hours with the fresher Mistral (North-West), which contributes to
make the days passed at the sea less sultry and more pleasant.
On the contrary the Libeccio (South-West) and the West wind (West),
even if they are winds less frequent, when they blow they make the
sea very rough. Rarely happens that the connections by ferry to
the continent are completely suspended because of the bad weather,
in the space of a year it can happen, at most once ore twice and
however it never lasts for all the day.
The icy winds of North wind (North) are almost inexistent , only
during sporadic winter days, thanks to the particular coasts conformation,
the island offers always a sheltered point with any kind of wind.
