38. Madonna Point

About a mile to East of Marciana Marina there is Madonna Point where it’s possible to make two diving, the first one is on a wall turned Westward called “West Madonna”, it’s rich in gorges and sponges, the second one takes its name from the littoral point, that continuing underwater creates a donkey saddle where inside a sheltered gorge there is a statue of the Christ placed there some years ago from Umberto Pellizzari, turning around this gorge, toward the open sea , we find a wall with a vertical fall rich in Yellow Sea Fans. In the middle of this wall there is a spectacular Canyon that starts from -38 mt and goes back up to the cap of the wall at -20 mt. The Canyon is very charming and rich in life and colour, in the shallow water Groupers and Sargos predominate in this site.
